Alex Elkin – Personal Injury Lawyer

Professional Overview

I obtained my combined J.D./MBA degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2013 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2014.

Since 2016, my practice has been devoted to helping injured people obtain compensation. Before that, I practised on the other side of the file, focusing on insurance defence litigation—experience that gives me an insider’s understanding of how insurers assess and defend claims.

I have appeared at every level of court in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal, and I have advanced accident benefits claims before the Licence Appeal Tribunal and complex right-to-sue matters before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

I handle claims arising out of motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, long-term disability benefits, dog bites, fire losses and mortgage insurance benefits. I pride myself on thinking outside the box—extracting complicated details from a case and simplifying them in pursuit of my clients’ interests.

Born and raised in Ottawa, I have lived in various parts of the country. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, reading, playing and watching sports, and spending time with my family.

My Approach

My approach is simple – help injured clients get the compensation they deserve. To do that, I need to not only understand the facts of the case but the clients themselves. I tailor my services to meet each individual client’s needs.

Outside The Office

Outside the office, my life revolves around my young family. When not at work, I can usually be found taking a child to hockey, swimming lessons, dance classes or a birthday party.

What Shaped My Career 

Prior to being called to the bar, I worked in hospitality. I realized that I enjoyed helping people. Whether that’s assisting with making dinner reservations are fighting an accident benefits denial, I truly enjoy helping others.
